THE SEATTLE IDEA

Random thoughts danced around my mind on my walk this evening as I listened to various 80s songs. Alphaville’s ‘Forever Young’ and Martin Gore’s version of ‘A Manner of Speaking’, where I could hear the distinctive sounds of ‘Enjoy the Silence’.

Scattered thoughts, ranging from my having listened to my mixed tapes whilst walking the many city blocks to get to my high school in LA to the notion of travelling. Always back to travelling. Willful thoughts which would not be silenced.

‘Why not take yourself on vacation?’, I entertained the idea. Solo trips are not bad, as one might think. It’s only lonely if you don’t like the idea of being in your own company. But I enjoy exploring new places. Coffee shops and bookshops, in particular. I can wander for hours in a new place and never get bored. There is always something to see and people to meet along the way.

I found myself revisiting the Seattle idea. It’s been many years since I’ve been there, but I don’t remember much. And it’s by the water and close to Canada for a day trip.

‘Just one more concert’, I continued with my wild imagination. Daringly curious for a new experience.

So now I find myself researching once again. Looking at Google Maps to see what I can find. Exploring Seattle virtually.

If I go, then that’s fine. If not, then at least I had fun planning. One day I will go. It would just be more fun to go hear great music while I’m there. An extra reason to go.
