Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

A POTTERING DAY

A POTTERING DAY

The weather has taken a turn towards the cold end of the thermometer. Along with more rain.

As I headed out for my walk this morning, leaving much later than I had anticipated, I saw that rain had started. Strange, I thought. The weather app showed no signs of rain about 30 minutes before I left. However, as soon as I walked out the door, the message on the app stated that the light rain would end in about 40 minutes. It did not.

I went inside and grabbed my old Bed Stu boots, putting my tennis shoes back in the coat closet. Then I took a light jacket and headed out to the store for the one item I needed for my simple breakfast. Almond butter.

As I got in the car, the rain intensified. By the time I reached the store, a mere two miles away, the rain was as bad as it was on Friday. I sat in my car until there was a break in the downpour so I could go inside.

It was about 15 minutes later that I was able to walk quickly into the store. The puddles along the way reminded me that I needed waterproof boots. With the cooler weather on the way, I would even entertain wearing snow boots.

After getting what I needed, I hurried home in another downpour. One which subsided once again as I reached the parking lot in front of my building. Once I was inside my warm home, I decided I would not be going anywhere else today. I then heated up some water and made myself tea.

Though I had intended this to be a productive Sunday, it was more of a pottering day. I did some more research for our trip. Mainly the accommodations. But there is not much more to do until I have the missing piece of the puzzle. Waiting for flight prices to decrease on a one-way flight.

I started rethinking all of the additional cities I had initially planned for us to see, as I added more days and nights to the main area of our travel. I am so used to moving in my life that this has transferred to my travel planning. Perhaps this time we will stay put longer in one place so that we can enjoy the experience of a new location for more than two or three days.

After some travel planning and cleaning, I made rice to accompany the little bit of lentil soup we had left. The lemon loaf I had wanted to make would not be made. At least not today.

My son arrived home late in the evening. He came to the table after he showered and we had our lentils with rice. Topped with Parmesan cheese. I could tell he was hungry as he finished his food far before I did. Then he ate several of the Croatian Napolitanke cookies I bought yesterday at the Turkish shop before heading to bed. Earlier than usual.

The evening ended with a FaceTime chat with my middle daughter. We talked for a while but not as long as usual. I also needed to get to sleep earlier tonight.
