SUNDAY BREAKFAST TABLE
Sunday morning breakfasts are a time to slow down and enjoy the moment. To wake up later than normally so that breakfast usually occurs around noontime. It is a time to make something special. For this first day of May, our special Sunday breakfast was crepes. So simple to make, yet so satisfying to eat.
It is now warm enough to sit outside on the balcony. To take our time eating as Sundays are usually the days without the weekly commitments of school and work. I tend to leave the food shopping to either Saturdays or quick trips during weekday lunch breaks and after work.
This week did not allow the special trip to Central Market to buy the good ricotta I get for the crepe filling. Today it would have to be lemony crepes with berries. Lemon curd, lemon sugar, and lemon juice. And of course, Nutella for my son. Also, with berries. And whipped cream.
The rest of the day was a combination of studying, though not as much as I’d like, and reading. My son was out for the afternoon at Sweet Berry Farms with his father and siblings, picking the last of the strawberries for the season.
As Sunday approaches its end, I mentally prepare for the week ahead. Thinking about what I want for my future and how I can go about getting it in the quickest manner possible whilst trying to maintain motivation for that journey. Sometimes it’s as simple as looking forward to the following Sunday. Counting down the hours until the next weekend. And thinking what to prepare for the next time at our Sunday breakfast table.
