This morning started with my making soup. One similar to the soup my son ate at the Elephant House in Edinburgh. I struggled with the chopping of vegetables as the knife in this sad flat was useless. Yet somehow I managed to dice up the onions and carrots along with slicing the celery for browning in butter.
After a hearty breakfast of cold oatmeal with apples, bananas, yogurt, walnuts, and cinnamon we set out to start the day. We walked first through Kensington Gardens in hopes of getting some cake at The Orangery. However, the waiter informed me they no longer serve cake there as they used to when I was there close to 15 years ago.
As we walked across the path to the Kensington Palace, we spied the long queue for the cafe. Cake would have to wait as the wait there would be close to an hour if we were lucky. We returned to the park entrance and went into the underground station where we purchased Day Tickets. We spent much time underground searching for the correct station and waiting for the trains to arrive.
My mission was to find a coffee place. Not just any coffee place but 'the best coffee in London' as I researched this morning. We took the underground to Waterloo? Flat White is the name of the coffee shop. We had a flat white and cappuccino. We sat there a while and ordered another coffee. Two cappuccinos. All this along with a mini carror cake and lemon loaf. Then later smashed avocado toast with poached eggs.
We walked around. Saw the Trump protest. Looked for underground. Found it and went to the London Eye. First it was the river cruise. Then the Eye. Both beautiful experiences. Found a copy place at a hotel.
Once home we ate a large meal. Lots of vegetables. Later I went out twice to buy things. Cookies then water. And I looked for a taxi.
We watched movies on television. Then bed after so much walking. The boy was not tired. At least that's what he said.
