THOUGHTS SCATTERED

The weather has changed yet again. A return to warmer temperatures, with a high of 21 degrees Celsius today. I was starting to like the cooler sweater weather. The cozy feeling associated with the cold.

The day was somewhat uneventful. Work and some food shopping during lunch. My son came home and asked if he could go to the football game tonight. The high school one, across the street. We ate an early dinner so he could be fed before he went to the hang out with a friend. However, he ended up falling asleep shortly after dinner, and never made it to the game.

In the meantime, I was reading a book on the sofa. I, too, was getting sleepy and nodding off but suddenly became wide awake when I heard the theme song to Friends playing outside. I opened the balcony door and walked outside. It was almost 08,30h and it must have been during a break in the game that they played ‘I’ll Be There for You’, albeit a sped-up version of the song. Perhaps a tribute to Matthew Perry, as he was buried today in Los Angeles.

I walked back inside, leaving my book on the sofa. Reading would have to wait until tomorrow. After a good night’s rest. For the remainder of the evening, I went to my study to do some research on the computer. Browsing the Lego site for new sets, looking up some tips for night photography, and reading reviews of winter boots. Ones where the snow would not be able to penetrate.

My thoughts scattered. Wandering. My mind a bit weary from all the decisions yet to be made. Yet, I look forward to spending a few cold winter nights in a land of seeming nothingness. Listening to the sounds of silence.
