Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

A POSITIVE IMPACT

A POSITIVE IMPACT

‘You cut your hair… and coloured it.’

‘How do you always notice?’, the girl smiled.

‘It looks nice’, the attendance lady added.

‘It’s my birthday’, the girl replied timidly. She said she had just turned 17.

I was standing in front of the attendance office at the high school, waiting to see if my son had turned in the orthodontist’s note from his appointment last Wednesday. Standing next to me was the attendance lady, greeting each student as they arrived to school. The birthday girl stood in front of the second set of glass doors leading to the main hallway, wearing a nice white skirt and top and holding her Starbucks birthday drink in one hand. She smiled with joy as the attendance lady noticed her shorter, black hair.

In a world where young people often feel overlooked, it was beautiful to see an adult make a positive impact on this girl’s day. I’m sure it made her day feel even more special.

It might not seem like much, such a comment or observation, but it’s always the little things that seem to matter most.
