Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

ANYTHING BUT PEACEFUL

ANYTHING BUT PEACEFUL

It was a peaceful break. Not having to deal with the school for two weeks. Now that winter break is over and the routine of going back to classes has resumed, the emails have started up again as has the harassment from the staff at school.

Before the break, I received an email from school:

‘We have heard from both parents and given that you currently have equal educational decision making rights, we are proceeding with the evaluation and the provision of special education services.’

To which I replied:

‘Please explain how this is justified given the current state of 50/50 custody with one parent giving consent and the other not?

I will not consent to further testing as this is not a medical need.

Furthermore, if it becomes necessary, this issue will be escalated to my attourney with the case being brought against LISD.’

It wasn’t until this morning that I received a response. The school psychologist emailed me to let me know that the school ‘will move forward with the course of action that seems best for Sage’ and that if my attourney has any questions, they can speak with the district’s general counsel. I replied that the school should ‘cease this continued harassment of my family as it is not in our best interest and is causing distress.’

With the number noted on the email, I decided to call him directly. There was no answer, so I had to leave him a message. Later in the morning, I received an email from him to the group email, letting me know that he got my message but will not call me back. He will speak only with an attourney.

The emails continued, but were exhausting and distracting me from my work. The last emails of the day ended with his father’s late response: ‘please continue with the evaluation and please reinstate special education services.’ To which I replied: ‘No, do not move forward with the special education services.’

All in all, an unnecessary exchange of words and a start to the year that was anything but peaceful.
