Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

PERSISTENCE PAYS

PERSISTENCE PAYS

‘We got the house!’, I roused him awake later in the morning as I tried to process the news myself.

‘Really?’, he jumped out of bed and grabbed his gaming chair as if he would be moving it immediately.

‘Yes, we were approved. Barely’, I added. It took some convincing, but the owners took a chance on us for the next year.

With the housing market cooling down in Austin, the property manager explained, owners are hesitant to have tenants sign a lease longer than a year. So, next year there is the possibility of either no rent increase or a decrease. Whatever the case, I am grateful for the opportunity granted to us to move to a larger space. A place we can make into a comfortable home.

My son and I discussed our next course of action. I was worried about being too distracted to start knitting for my shop. Still in the ‘gathering’ phase of ordering supplies, planning designs, and trying to find a way to upgrade my old technology, I decided to hold off on starting projects until the move was completed.

‘You could make yarn balls from your yarns’, my son suggested, and offered to help turn my skeins into balls. I loved his idea and willingness to help. That thought didn’t even come to my mind with so many other things to contemplate.

If I’ve learned anything from this experience, it is that persistence pays. That and continuing to move forward in spite of the outcome. I was at peace with either decision to move as I had already decided to move away from this apartment complex next year if this house did not work out. But it did and now we have some time to pack and organise.
