Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in my everyday life. Home, travel, food, lifestyle.

THEN CAME THE EXCUSES

THEN CAME THE EXCUSES

‘Hey sage r u going on the boat for the 3 day weekend and bringing plp??’ came the text from my older daughter in our group chat.

My son did not respond as he was not paying attention, but I let him know he needed to ask his friends. He also needed to clarify which days they were going. Was it all three? Was it just on Memorial Day? He needed to know in order to have his friends ask their parents.

After work, I agreed to watch a movie with my son. When it was over, I remained in his room on the bottom bunk as I was tired. I then heard him speak with one of his friends about coming on the boat. The same friend who could not permission to come to the Falcon Fest last week. Though I could not hear what his friend was saying, my son was trying to convince the boy to go on the boat with him.

I asked Sage what happened with his other friends. Well, one was on his way to Florida as he travelled a lot with family. The other friend was grounded. This friend was his last option.

At first it seemed promising. It seemed as if he would be going. Then came the excuses. He was going to the movies to watch Top Gun at a theatre in South Austin though there is one within walking distance of his house. But then he wasn’t sure when he was going. His friend then asked if his parents could come. ‘Of course’, said my son. But then took several minutes to convince him to actually asked his parents. Then it seemed he didn’t want to ask his parents.

After listening to my son going back and forth with his friend, I didn’t see this was going well. At one point, my son called his friend out on the excuses by saying he can just tell him if he didn’t want to go. And that was that. He wasn’t going.

I then had Sage text his older sister to tell her he wanted me to go as he had also asked me. ‘Mom will be there’, was her reply. Which meant I was not allowed to go.
